I really have no idea why, but Johanna has hijacked my brain lately. So, uh, Merry Christmas, have really dysfunctional coping mechanisms?

District Seven is silence, cold and snow and trees and a house that's all too quiet. It's bad memories and bad nights and too-long days all on her own.

It's no wonder Johanna will take any escape she can find, anything that promises to make it stop hurting, even if only for a little while.

The only problem is the comedown.

It is very interesting reading these Johanna stories! Her and what she does and Blight (really liked them at this end of this one) and the little bit with her mentor there too!
(although I think in one earlier fic I may have indicated Blight was her mentor, I also like it better with someone else as her mentor/more get the feeling from Catching Fire that he probably wasn't. ...I wound up having it be Reinhold in mine, which made Johanna and Blight share a mentor. ...which was partially intended to carry on that thread of 'Kayta and Reinhold both think the other guy does things the wrong way' nonsense.)

Yeah, I see Blight and Johanna as friends, kinda--the "we don't talk about feelings, but I will haul your ass out of your house because you need it" type of friends.

And then her line in Catching Fire about "He wasn't much, but he was from home..." is (typical) Johanna being dismissive to avoid any implication that she has actual feelings.

The Johanna stories invaded my brain without warning, so I don't actually have all of D7 sorted out or named, I just have Blight, and Johanna's mentor Ila... I should figure that out one of these days....
